AES Helps the First U.S.-Made Lexus Roll Off the Line in Kentucky

AES took on a few projects from the Georgetown, Ky. Toyota plant in support of its move to produce the first line of Lexus vehicles in the U.S. According to WDRB, in mid-October, the first Lexus ES 350 model rolled off the line at the plant, and we couldn’t be more proud to have been part of helping to make that possible.

We jumped in on the paint addition, a 60,000 square-foot expansion that included three breezeways. We supplied the facility with LED high bay lighting, a new double-ended substation, and eight 1,600-amp power distribution panels. Our teams also installed wiring to the dock doors and paint hospital booth.

AES also tied several new systems for the addition to the existing plant, including a new fire alarm and notification system. We worked with the current plant to move power feeds and tie in a 15kv high voltage cable to feed the new substation. Robotics and processes were also relocated throughout the plant.

Our crews worked an aggressive schedule to also ensure that the 160,000 square-foot weld addition and 115,000 bumper paint facility were ready for the fall schedule. All our hard work paid off, and now the Georgetown plant is in full swing, with 750 new workers producing the new Lexus line.
