The existing $34.6-million Center for Predictive Medicine, a Level 3 biosafety lab on UofL’s Shelby Campus. The 37,000-square-foot facility is one of 13 such labs being built through a National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases plan to better protect Americans from biological threats.

UofL received a $9.8 million dollar federal stimulus fund to build an additional 15,000 sq ft. The same stringent design will be adhered to and an independent testing and certification company will ensure all systems are working properly before any research occurs.
