UPS Worldport Ramp 9 & 11 Expansion
Owner: UPS Completion: 2009 Scope: Theexpansion of a taxi and ramp for new plane positions required relocating five high-voltage transformers and powering four new buildings from a different electrical source. Pre-planning and coordination was the key to this project’s success. The project consisted of re-feeding and relocating the high voltage line that originally fed the four buildings from a new HVL Line-up. This additional line-up had to be installed and tied in between a facility that had a four-hour down time for the entire week. AES installed more than 8,000’ of duct banks across the ramps, pulled in more than 200,000’ of cable and installed seven 120’ high mast lights around UPS Operations. A new 750 KW generator was installed to back up the reworked feed for the Fuel Farm. AES also reworked the feeder and transformer for the Glycol Facility. This work area encompassed more than 10 acres. Value: $2,450,000.00
