Owner: UPS Completion: 2009 Scope: This project consisted of numerous electrical construction areas. AES installed two new 4000 amp high-voltage primary switch gear units and interconnected the two units with buss duct in the UPS Utility Room, doubling their capacity. AES pulled in more than 4000’ of (3)c 750 HV Cable in Utility Tunnels and installed new HV Duct Banks. We also installed (18) 4000 amp double-ended switch gear substations and more than 100 lighting and power panels. Value: $17,000,000
Compass Airlines
Owner: Compass Airlines Completion: 2009 Scope: New construction consisting of electrical power and lighting for the entire facility. This project also had installation of 400 Hz equipment and special conduit put in place for the plane’s 400 Hz Power Systems, telecommunications raceway and installation of a complete fire alarm system. A compressed schedule required implementing numerous design assist strategies to ensure the project was delivered to the owner on time. Value: $1,100,000
UPS Freight Facility
Owner: UPS Completion: 2007 Scope: This $82 million project integrated heavy freight into UPS’ Operations System. Incredibly fast-paced, this project involved re-routing airline and trucking on a turn-key date which had global implications. The project also involved new construction while simultaneously renovating the existing facility that remained in operation. AES was profiled in National Electrical Contractor magazine in December 2007 for this project involving the world’s largest package delivery operation. Value: $6,700,000
Mac Asphalt Plant
Owner: Mac Asphalt & Construction Completion: 2006 Scope: This new construction consisted of facility power and lighting, site aerial lighting and communications raceway. This project was a design build in which AES implemented numerous cost-saving measures while increasing the reliability of the facility. Mixing, distributing, conveying and fueling stations required power through mazes of tray cable. Value: $675,000.00
