Owner: Amgen Corp. Completion: 2009 Scope: Amgen Corporation is Louisville’s largest biotech company, and AES has assisted with each one of its plant expansions over the past 12 years. Two recent expansions consisted of the cold room storage facility and installation of a fifth 500 meg generator. Building power and lighting, a fire alarm system and communications raceway were included in the expansion. AES integrated the new expansion into the existing facility without interrupting power to special products in the cold room. Job hazard analysis, scope review and many other extensive details were pursued in order to develop the seamless expansion. Value: $2,500,000
Louisville International Airport
Owner: TSA Inline Baggage Screening Completion: February 2007 Scope: This project took place in a complex area, the Airport Operations Area (AOA), and required a 10-year background check all employees. This project consisted of a new building addition on both sides of the facility that was incorporated into the existing facility. The project housed a new conveyor line which helped speed the process of moving luggage from the plane to the baggage area. A new, primary distribution line was installed by the utility company to provide power for the conveyor system. Light fixtures and electrical equipment and an additional substation were also installed. AES expanded the fire alarm and security system and integrated it into the existing loop. Value: $1,220,000.00
